He's young, relatively thin, and quite tall. Ryan's intelligence and expertise in business makes up for whatever he may lack in other areas. However, his tendency to act before thinking has gotten him in trouble all too many times. Ryan has a drive for adventure but also a careful eye for risk (especially when it comes to money).

History before LUG

Growing up in Lebanon Tennessee, Ryan was raised in the aftermath of the Vietnam War. His family was a strong business-minded family. His parents managed their money quite efficiently and went on to become quite successful in their own fields of endeavor.

Ryan, however, ran into his own obstacles from time to time. He was not necessarily one of the brightest kids in school. Ryan attributes this problem to the class bully who would often swap Ryan's test for a fake while they were being passed out. However, no proof of this has ever been uncovered.

Academics was not the only area, Ryan had struggles. During lunch, while Ryan was in middle school, he ventured over to ask a girl for a date. After he sat down next to her, he opened his lunch box and a frog jumped out onto the girl's lunch plate. Though the class got a somewhat serious lecture about it, the student responsible for slipping the frog in the lunch box was never discovered.

Fortunately, Ryan was able to push up his performance in high school, and he was able to go on to college. Further, the class bully, his sworn enemy at the time, did not. Also, during high school Ryan's parents enrolled him in Tae Kwon Do, which he continued on into college. He even began to study Karate and Kosen Judo. Upon his graduation from college, he was one of the best martial arts students in his class.

Then, during his college years, Ryan had an art final exam in which he spilled a little paint on an older student's work. Though, Gary Miller was initially upset, the paint splotch became the centerpiece for one of Gary Miller's best works of art. Ever since that time, Gary Miller and Ryan Bishop have been the best of friends.

By the late 1990s, Gary and Ryan set out in search of adventure and applied for membership in the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. However, they were rejected but successfully applied in the League of Unusual Guys where they've worked ever since.
