| History before LUG |
|
Born in Natchez Mississippi into a lower middle class family, his family had many financial struggles. Garys mother was a stay-at-home mom, and his father often migrated from one job to another. In 1970, his family's home was broken into, and they lost many things. His family decided to move to Huntsville Alabama where his dad worked as an office assistant for a few years. Then in 1973, their new home was also broken into, and so they decided to move again. This time, they moved to Jackson Mississippi. In Jackson, his father set up a shop selling electronics. His father specialized in fixing televisions, radios, and variety of other devices. During those years, Gary loyally would lend a hand, and he learned much about how things worked. Gary had an eye for detail, but also a strong artistic talent. One day his parents recognized that talent when he built a model of an airplane out of spare parts. For years after, his hobby was putting together a variety of models from cars to airplanes. In 1988, Gary went to college and decided to pursue a career in Criminal investigation, but his parents wanted him to take Art classes. Thus, Gary compromised by choosing a minor in Art. Two years later, he was working on a piece of artwork for one of his classes when a younger student, Ryan Bishop, spilled paint onto his art. Though initially upset, Gary was able to transform the art in a masterpiece. During his last years at college, Gary and Ryan became best friends. After college, Gary lucked out and got a job at the local FBI office. However,
Gary was stuck at a desk job, working as a Forensics Science Assistant. He dreaded
the position and wanted to get out into the field and capture criminals. |
